Holidays In East Yorkshire

Staying at one of our self-catering holiday cottages at Field House Farm on the East Yorkshire coast allows you to discover the Real Yorkshire.

We offer a brilliant base from which to explore the nearby North Yorkshire coast, The Yorkshire Wolds, The North Yorkshire Moors, York, Whitby, Scarborough, The Wolds Way and, of course, the spectacular Yorkshire coast around Bridlington and Flamborough Head.

Here are just some local highlights.

Scarborough HarbourBridlington
Bridlington's historic Old Town and its north and south beaches are all within three miles of Field House Farm Cottages.

Bridlington offers miles of safe, sandy, prestigious Blue Flag beaches; Leisure World with a swimming pool and flumes; and an attractive fishing harbour; as well as restaurants, entertainments, cafes, tea-rooms, pubs, cinemas and bowling. The Old Town has antique shops, galleries, Bayle Gate Museum and Priory Church. An indoor swimming pool is available just a five-minute walk from the farm.

Explore the East Yorkshire locations painted by David Hockney, one of the world's most famous living artists, now resident and working in Bridlington.

York City WallsFlamborough Head
Just three miles from the cottages, Flamborough Head offers a Heritage Coast, North Landing and South Landing, Thornwick Bay, a sculpture trail, cliff walks, nature trails, sandy coves, rock pools, boat trips, the lighthouse and the lifeboat station. Good pub meals are available using fresh fish caught locally.

Sewerby Village, Park and Hall
One mile from the cottages, Sewerby Park features formal and informal gardens, a local museum, putting, a 10 hole mini golf course, a children's zoo, a land train and a cafe. In Sewerby village, you will find a pub, cafe, restaurant, fish and chip shop and model village.

RSPB Bempton Bird Reserve, Bempton Cliffs and Danes Dyke
Only one mile from the cottages, this is one of the most visited RSPB sites in the country. Various events are held during the year and on-site wardens and volunteers are on hand for advice. Danes Dyke is a defensive Iron Age earthwork that cuts across the headland from north to south. Though not open to the general public, access to part of it is permitted for birdwatching. Other birdwatching sites can be found at Filey Dams, Tophill Low, Spurn Point and Hornsea Mere.

Filey, Scarborough, Whitby and York
The Yorkshire WoldsFiley is 15 minutes away by car, Scarborough 30 minutes, and Whitby and York 50 minutes respectively. All four are well worth a visit, especially historic York, famous for York Minster and The Shambles.

Walking
Excellent local walking can be had from your own doorstep. A stroll of only one mile will take you to our local eatery / pub, as well as a farm shop offering pick-your-own-fruit.

Theatres
John Godber's Hull Truck Theatre and Alan Ayckbourn's Scarborough Theatre are two of the best local theatres.
